Christmas Traditions

Last week at school, Dylan's class had a discussion on family traditions.  He said he raised his hand the most giving all our different traditions.  So...  since he is remembering them better than me right now I figure its as now of a good time to put these down in writing.

Christmas Eve:

  • We go to the Candle Light service at church
  • The kids get matching Christmas pajama's
  • We make reindeer food and sprinkle it on the lawn just before bedtime
  • Each kid gets to open one special present under the tree
  • We track Santa online using www.noradsanta.org.
  • We also CALL Norad and get to talk to a real person which Dylan loves.  He asked the person where Santa was at and when he would be getting to San Antonio, TX.  The number is 877 HI-NORAD (877 446-6723) to talk directly to a NORAD staff member who will be able to tell you Santa’s exact location – any time on Christmas Eve!
  • Milk and Cookies are put out by the fireplace
Christmas Day
  • We open presents one at a time watching each other.  This way they all don't get ripped opened quickly and we miss seeing what everyone got!  Ryan had us start this last year.
  • While opening presents we have hot cinnamon rolls for breakfast
  • Then after all the presents are opened and the kids are playing, the Christmas Day parade is playing on the tv.
Thats all I can think of for now.  I'll add more if I think of it.  Of course our newest tradition is Jingles (our Elf) which has been with since the beginning of December will be leaving on Dec. 24th.
