My 35th Birthday

We spent the weekend down at the coast in Port O'Connor for my birthday weekend.  Not my top choice since it was a very windy weekend but Ryan has a fishing tournament next weekend and needed to "pre-fish".

The whole time we were there, the winds were in excess of 30mph!  Ryan went out fishing early with his dad and Dylan.  I took Addison and Brody out to Josie's (a mexican restaurant) for breakfast.  I figured that I would start my birthday day off right!  We then attempted the beach.  Well, there wasn't much of a beach!  At the time we were about to drive off, my friend Julie showed up with her son Wyatt.  We decided to look for a little spot and found a small sandy area for the kids to play.  It was so windy though that sand toys were flying everywhere!  At least the sand was somewhat wet so it wasn't blowing in everyone's eyes.

We then headed back to the house to wait for the boys to get home from fishing and to take a nap! My sister in law and her family drove in around this time as well.   We then went out to dinner.

The next day, my sister in law and I decided to try the beach in the morning.  Well this time, there was absolutely NO beach...  I have never seen the Port O'Connor beach look like this!  Usually there is lots of sand but the water went all the way up to the grass line.

The boys wanted to fish off the pier with some shrimp that Ryan gave them.  They attempted this for about 15 minutes... (look at the tree's blowing in the background! I had to hold Brody on the pier as the wind literally was pushing him!)

Then we went to play on the swings and cousin Jared found it fun to cover himself in playground rocks since there wasn't any sand...

Aunt Suzanne then decided to go buy kites for all the kids.  We figured it was windy enough but come to find out... it was really TOO windy to even fly a kite!!

The kids then played awhile in the water looking for hermit crabs but nobody went swimming.

Lastly, we went back to the house to shower and clean up the house.  We had a long drive back home and mimi wanted to bring me a cake for my birthday.  So after we got home, she brought us a quick dinner and a yummy icecream/brownie cake!  Thanks Mom!  

Then... we went to bed!  We were exhausted!
